Montenegro recently welcomed Lori Balton, one of Hollywood’s most prominent location scouts, whose impressive career spans over three decades and includes collaborations on numerous iconic films with some of the biggest names in world cinema. Balton’s visit, organized at the initiative of the Film Centre of Montenegro, marks an important milestone in the country’s ongoing efforts to increase its international visibility as an attractive destination for the film industry.
During her multi-day stay, Balton toured key natural and cultural-historical sites across the country, accompanied by representatives of the Film Centre of Montenegro. From the Bay of Kotor and the national parks Lovćen and Durmitor, to the architecturally unique cities of Perast, Kotor and Cetinje, she explored a wide range of locations that showcase Montenegro’s stunning diversity. Balton was impressed by the variety of landscapes within such a compact area and highlighted the country’s strong visual appeal for a broad spectrum of film genres – from historical dramas and action films to contemporary stories.

It’s rare to find such diversity in such a small area,” said Balton, adding that she sees great potential for Montenegro to become a sought-after destination for international film productions.
