The second edition of Montenegro Film Rendezvous, an industry event organized by the Film Centre of Montenegro, will take place from August 23-25, 2025, in Herceg Novi, as part of the 38th Herceg Novi Film Festival – Montenegro Film Festival.
This event brings together key figures from the regional and European film industries for the second time, focusing on the development of Montenegrin film projects, co-production opportunities, and collaboration between regional and international professionals. The three-day program features presentations of Montenegrin film projects at various stages of development, panel discussions with industry experts, and networking events designed to foster business connections and co-production partnerships.
This year, the event will welcome over 40 film industry experts, including Mike McGee from Framestore, the world-leading creative studio specializing in visual effects and post-production, as well as representatives from the French National Centre of Cinema (CNC), and Caroline Cooper Charles from Screen Yorkshire, a leading British film development organization.
Distinguished guests also include Fredecik Boyer, Artistic Director of the Tribeca Film Festival, and Lison Hervé, Industry Manager at Les Arcs Film Festival, along with Agnieszka Moody from the British Film Institute and Alex Traila, Series Development Manager for the Council of Europe, who will introduce participants to their institutions and collaboration opportunities. For the first time in Montenegro, the event will also bring together all film center directors from Southeast Europe.
French-Montenegrin Film Cooperation
In addition to Montenegrin projects, the event will showcase projects selected through a call organized by the French Embassy and the French Institute in Montenegro, together with the Film Centre of Montenegro. French producers interested in co-productions with Montenegrin projects will also be present. These collaborations will take place within the framework of the Film Co-production Agreement signed in May by Montenegro’s Minister of Culture and Media, Dr. Tamara Vujović, and France’s Minister of Culture, Rachida Dati, during the Cannes Film Festival.
Montenegro Film Rendezvous was launched as an initiative by the Film Centre of Montenegro with the goal of integrating Montenegro into the European audiovisual landscape. The initiative aims to raise the standards of the local film industry and increase recognition of Montenegrin filmmakers and professionals among European film experts, enabling them to network with European film institutions throughout all stages of development, production, and distribution.
Montenegro Film Rendezvous is organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Media, the Municipality of Herceg Novi, and JUK Herceg Fest, which also produces the Herceg Novi Film Festival – Montenegro Film Festival. This year’s edition is also organized in partnership with the French Embassy in Montenegro, the French Institute in Montenegro, and the British Council.
The sponsors of this year’s Montenegro Film Rendezvous are Uniqa Insurance and Nescafé.
