Last week, the debut feature film “The Elegy of Laurel” according to the script and directed by young Montenegrin author, Dušan Kasalica, was completed in the Durmitor Mountain.
Frano Lasić plays Filip, a sophisticated university professor, who goes on vacation with his wife. After spending a couple of days in a comfy, monotonous ambiance of the spa hotel, their seemingly ideal marriage is over. It seems that his life is collapsing, but Filip, armed with confidence, faces each new circumstance in his life with unusual ease. Filip’s escape from problems leads him to a small mountain village and deep forest, where he meets his mother and falls in love with a girl that once was a snake.
Apart from Frano Lasić, the film stars Savina Geršak, Nikolina Bogdanović, Momo Pićurić, Olivera Vuković, Draginja Voganjac, Lidija Kordić, Lidija Petrone and Zoran Trojanović.
The director of photography is Igor Djordjević, set designer and costume designer Natalija Vujošević, sound recordist Luka Barajević, editor Jelena Maksimović, and producer Jelena Angelovski.
The project was developed within the framework of prestigious Script Station platforms during the film festivals Berlinale and CineLink in Sarajevo.
“The Elegy of Laurel” is produced by Meander Film with the backing of the Film Centre of Montenegro and in co-production with Non-Aligned Films from Belgrade. The project is also supported by the Film Centre Serbia.
